Gas Tariff Rates in Pakistan
Gas tariffs in Pakistan are set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and can change with government notifications, so always confirm the current rate on your actual bill or the official OGRA/SNGPL/SSGC notifications rather than relying on any third-party figure — including this page.
How a Gas Bill Is Calculated
Consumption is measured in cubic meters (m³) and converted to MMBTU. Broadly:
Domestic Slab System
Domestic consumers are billed on a rising slab system — the more you use, the higher the per-unit rate on the additional consumption. Rates are reviewed periodically by OGRA and can change without much notice, particularly around winter demand season.
What Is GIDC?
The Gas Infrastructure Development Cess is a federal levy charged per MMBTU to fund gas infrastructure projects. It has been the subject of ongoing legal and political disputes, and its rate varies by consumer category.
Other Charges on Your Bill
- Meter rent — a small fixed monthly charge.
- General Sales Tax (GST).
- TV licence fee for domestic bills above a set threshold.
- Late payment surcharge if paid after the due date.
Where to Confirm Current Rates
For the current, legally applicable tariff notification, check OGRA’s official website or the tariff insert that comes with your own bill — rates published on unofficial sites (including this one) may lag behind the latest notification.
