Understanding Your Gas Bill
Your bill combines several components beyond raw gas usage: meter rent, the Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC), General Sales Tax, and — for domestic consumers with a bill over Rs. 500 — a TV license fee. Consumption is billed on a rising slab system set by OGRA, so higher usage is charged at a higher per-unit rate.
If a meter reader could not access your meter, you may receive an estimated bill based on past usage, which gets reconciled the following month against the actual reading.
